Why Does Man Create Law?

By Sean Killian

Standing in line for legal-mail a few of us “jailhouse-lawyers” were busy talking about legal matters and the U.S. Court  System. Specifically, the main point of discussion was the fact that every case has a “loop-hole”. That is, no case is perfectly addressed. Someone somewhere made an error. No one, no matter how experienced, can be mindful of so many technical rules at every moment. Then it dawned on me.

You see, some of the guys were religious. And I don’t mean just any type, but “ministers.” the type the chain-gang calls “Rev” or “Preacher” and even “Doc”. These esteemed individuals’ dedication cannot be denied. You won’t see them involved in the foolishness. They’re regularly involved in the Chapel programs and they just about always have a T.D. Jakes book or some other motivational literature in hand. Their commitment to their religion is clear. As we were standing there though, discussing Florida law, and their diligence in studying it was so obvious, something came to mind.

Now we all know that the main religions have, as a whole, rejected Yahweh’s Law. So the irony that I realized was the apparent outcome of this “falling away.” I asked, “Why is the Court System imperfect?”

A few moments later the answer given was, “Because man created it.” (They played right into my  hand).

“Oh,” I said, “But who could create a perfect one?”

Quickly the response came, “Only [Yahweh] could do that.” (I’m correcting their terminology).

When this came out I could tell they were realizing what I was doing. (For they are well aware of my positive position on Yahweh’s Law). But rather than spark a debate we have all been through before, I chose to go another route.

I asked, “Why then, is it necessary for man to create law?”

“Well, because man was given authority over everything.”

“Yea,” another chimed in, “And because we were created in [Yahweh’s ] image and likeness.”

I thought to myself that those were some pretty fancy answers. “So let me get this straight,” I said, “Yahweh creates a perfect law, creates man in His own image and likeness, gives him authority over the earth, and man needs to create his own imperfect law?” That was the end of our progressive discussion. I was shut out from then on. I am a “Judaizer.”

The truth of the matter is that man creates law because he has forgotten Yahweh’s law. For Yahweh has indeed created a perfect law (Psalm 19:7, James 1:25), yet man’s nature is an enmity with it (Romans 8:7-8). Therefore man creates law because he knows that law is necessary. That is, he realizes that liberty cannot exist without law. And since Yahweh's law has been forgotten, man thinks it is necessary for him to create law. But Yahweh did not create man to reject His perfect law for their own imperfect substitutes. That’s ridiculous. That’s not the authority which Yahweh gave man.

Sadly, back when the Assembly was overrun by Gentiles, following Yahweh's law was greatly discouraged, and the “liberty” which Sha’ul (Paul) spoke of came to be misinterpreted as freedom from Yahweh’s law, and not the only true freedom which comes while walking in His law. (Psalm 119:44-45, James 1:25). That is, freedom from sin, which is transgression of Yahweh's law (Romans 7:7, 1 John 3:4).

At one time this Nation was somewhat mindful of Yahweh’s law. But that reverence continues to fade fast. One of the guys I was speaking to joked that he would quote Yahweh’s law in his legal-motion before the supreme Court. Sarcastically he said, “At the mouth of two or more witnesses….” To this the others laughed. The implications are clear. Our court-system is definitely out of step with Yahweh, and the principal which the guy cited is one that Messiah, our example (Matthew 18:16), and the Emissaries utilized (2 Corinthians 13:1, 1 Timothy 5:19). How far we have come.

I write to a group of people who are very nice. You can clearly see their love manifested through their kindness. They provide some very basic essentials for prisoners and include excerpts from Max Lucado books with positive messages. One article titled Laws of the Lighthouse had a couple dozen “laws” which Max had compiled from his experiences in life. They were insightful and interesting, however, they were not laws written in the Scriptures.

You see, Max Lucado is another example, as motivational and insightful as his laws are they are not Yahweh’s. So, just like most religions at large, he will not teach Yahweh's law, but will teach his own  laws. From this I was motivated to send the Methodists a booklet from YAIM, The Hard Sayings of Paul, which deals with how much he has been misunderstood concerning the law. Maybe somebody should send one to Max. I am sure he would not sell as many books if he accepted the truth, but I am positive that Yahweh would be a fan. Anyway, eventually they responded that they just “focus on love”, and “don’t want to get into any theological debates.” They are very kind people. Unfortunately they have not noticed that Yahweh’s definition of “love” is different from theirs (1 John 5;2). Pray for them.

Now every nation has law. To live anywhere in the world you must follow their established law. The Scriptures tell us to follow these (Romans 13:1-8) as long as they do not go against Yahweh's law (Acts 5:29).

Yahweh is preparing a people for His coming Kingdom which will be established on the earth (if you got a ticket to go “up there” somewhere I suggest you get a refund!). So with this in mind, think about how common it is that people disregard the law of Heaven. Isn’t it ironic that the guys I was talking to have spent such dedicated time in learning the law of Florida but continue to disregard the law of Heaven?

I read of a testimony from a Jewish man that had accepted Messiah and as he was on the podium telling his story, he kept seeing a list of rules posted on the back wall which this specific congregation had established. When he was finished a man came up to him saying, “Amen, brother. Isn’t it good to not be under the law anymore?” He felt that it was very strange, and I do too, because even Sha’ul was not “under the Law,” (Romans 6:15), yet continued to observe the Commands with earnest diligence, (Romans 3:21, 7:12, Acts 21:24, 24:14, 28:8).

In Florida alone the average Law-library is packed with hundreds of books on law. This is not including other states in other regions. An annotated constitution itself can take up several entire shelves. In comparison, Yahweh’s Law is concise. And this is because it is truly perfect. It needs neither amendment nor correction. So ultimately, why not begin preparing now  to be an upstanding citizen in Yahweh's Kingdom by learning of the King’s rules? That is, since you now know that you have long forgotten His law, why not make the choice to return to Him? (Deuteronomy 30, Isaiah 51, Malachi 3-4).

Blessed are the undefiled in The Way, who walk in the Law of Yahweh” (Psalm 119:1).

Indignation has taken hold of me because of the wicked, who forsake Your Law (Psalm119:53).

Rivers of water run down from my eyes because men do not keep Your Law (Psalm 119:136).

Great peace have those who love Your Law and nothing causes them to stumble (Psalm 119:165).

May Yahweh bless you and keep you.

HalleluYah!
