The seventh month in Yahweh's calendar shows His plan of salvation through His Feast days that are geared to the earth's harvest seasons. The first month, known as Abib, has a direct counterpart in the seventh scriptural month, which begins with the sounding of the trumpet. In the Old Covenant, the trumpet was to sound an alarm to alert the Israelites. When Yahweh appeared at Sinai (Exodus 19:16-19), the trumpet sounded and Israel was offered Yahweh's covenant. The trumpet also announced when Israel was to break camp. Additionally, the trumpet was blown to herald the new moon (Psalm 81:3).
The blowing of the trumpet takes on a special meaning in the New Covenant. Note Paul's writings in which he said that the Messiah would descend at the sound of the trump (1 Thessalonians 4:16). At that time, all believers would be changed from flesh to spirit. Our bodies would be changed from matter to spiritual immortality. Corruption would put on in-corruption (1 Corinthians 15:52-54).
The Book of Revelation also shows that trumpets have special significance for the end of the age. Revelation 8:1-13 speaks of trumpets sounding, as does 9:1 and 13. Revelation 11:15 speaks of the seventh and final angel sounding.
At the sounding of the seventh trumpet, the kingdoms of this earth become the Kingdom of Yahweh and of His Messiah. At that time, He begins His reign on this earth. This is significant, because the blowing of the trumpet shows Yahweh's intervention in the affairs of man. He is calling His assembly to become inheritors of the kingdoms of the earth (Daniel 7:18; Joel 2:1).
The Feast of Trumpets, which begins the seventh scriptural month (on the new moon) is an annual Sabbath in Yahweh's set-apart days. Seven is the number of spiritual perfection.
The writer of Hebrews had in mind the Sabbath of the seventh month when he said Yahshua will return "at the last trump and the dead in Messiah shall rise first." Then our labors on earth will be ended and the record of what we have done will be used to determine what our rewards will be (Revelation 22:12).
And He shall send His angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together His elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other, Matthew 24:31.
Here in Rocheport, we hold services on the Feast of Trumpets followed by a fellowship meal and a bible study. We pray you will consider joining us and will post the dates and times each year, once they are determined.
