The Holy Spirit of Yahweh can be one of the most misunderstood aspects of the “true worshipper’s” biblical faith. These misunderstandings have generated new religions among us and therein have caused much division. The Holy Spirit of Yahweh is “Ruach Ha Kodesh” in Hebrew and “Pnuema Hagion” in Greek. The terms Kodesh and Hagion mean something sacred, pure and sanctified, i.e. holy.
In this writing, we are going to concentrate on the words “Ruach” and “Pnuema” which mean: breath, wind, to blow, exhale, respire, breeze or air current. These definitions of the Holy Spirit do not describe a person or entity. They describe the form in which the invisible power and force flows from the Father and the Son. Learn these definitions because in them is the true doctrine regarding the Holy Spirit. The invisible energy and power of the Holy Spirit is literally the breath that flows out from Yahweh and Yahshua.
Where did the breath of life given to Adam come from? It came from the breath of Yahweh. Look back to the definitions of Ruach and Pnuema and see if they fit the occurrence in Genesis 2:7, And Yahweh Elohim formed man of the dust of the ground and breathed into him the breath of life, and man became a living soul (breath, exhale, respire).
Yahweh’s spirit and breath are one and the same. When we read the Scriptures and come upon the terms of spirit and breath used in conjunction with one another, it is similar to the following: house and abode, daughter and child, car and transportation—all one and the same; hence my spirit and my breath.
Job 34:14-15, If He should set His heart on it, if He should gather to Himself, His Spirit and His Breath, all flesh would perish together and man would return to dust. It is the spirit or breath of Yahweh that creates and gives life. When Yahshua died, He gave up the Spirit. When we die, we give up the Spirit. Yahweh gathers His spirit and breath back to Himself. We do not receive it again until resurrection.
Job 33:4, The Spirit of Yahweh has made me and the breath of Yahweh gives me life. The spirit and breath of Yahweh created Job and gave him life and created Adam and gave him life; just as it created you and me and gave us life.
Job 12:10, In whose hand is the life of every living thing and the breath of all mankind? The Spirit of Yahweh is not some third-person entity of a trinity or godhead. The Holy Spirit of Yahweh is Yahweh Himself. It is the invisible force, power and energy which proceeds out of His mouth exhaling, respiring and breathing. Yahweh is the Spirit!
2 Corinthians 3:17, Now Yahweh is the Spirit and where the Spirit of Yahweh is, there is liberty.
This Scripture uses the exact phraseology used in Job 33:4, i.e., the “Spirit of Yahweh.” We can clearly see from this Scripture that Yahweh is the Spirit.
When we compile a body of Scripture pertaining to the Holy Spirit (line upon line, precept upon precept, here a little there a little, Isaiah 28:9-10) we allow the compilation of Scripture to interpret itself, by accepting the picture given to us by the compilation. In other words, we cannot isolate a Scripture for the purpose of interpreting it. It must be part of the whole of Scripture and harmonize with the whole of Scripture.
When we compile all the Scriptures pertaining to the Holy Spirit, that compilation makes it clear the invisible force, power, energy, breeze, air current and wind is caused by the very exhalation, respiration and breath of Yahweh. Hence, “Ruach” and “Pneuma.”
Let’s visit an end-time prophecy about the resurrection as it is described by the prophet Ezekiel.
Ezekiel 37:13-14, “Then you shall know that I am Yahweh, when I have opened your graves, O My people, and brought you up from your graves. I will put My Spirit in you and you shall live, and I will place you in your own land. Then you shall know that I, Yahweh, have spoken it and performed it,” says Yahweh.
How do you think Yahweh will put His Spirit into these resurrected ones? That’s right! By His breath! Just as He did Adam.
Ezekiel 37:4-6, Prophesy to these bones, and say to them, “O dry bones, hear the Word of Yahweh say to these bones: ‘Surely I will cause breath to enter into you, and you shall live. I will put sinew on you and bring flesh upon you, cover you with skin and put breath in you, and you shall live.’”
The breath sent by Yahweh into lifeless bones symbolizes the Holy Spirit. For additional confirmation of this fact, check out the study notes for Ezekiel 37:5 in the New King James Study Bible.
Yahweh empowered Yahshua with the Holy Spirit in the beginning of the ages, which provided Yahshua the power, force and energy to create all things through Him. Notice this often overlooked Scripture wherein Yahshua gave the Holy Spirit in the same way as His Father.
John 20:22, And when He had said this, He breathed on them, and said to them, “Receive the Holy Spirit.”
Yahshua imparted the Holy Spirit upon the disciples in the exact same manner as His Father. By now, I am certain you are beginning to detect a totally new understanding of the Holy Spirit emerging from these Scriptures.
There are very legitimate reasons for our misunderstandings. The biggest factor arises from the Hebrew language not having a “neuter gender” such as the word “it.” Every object/word had either a masculine or feminine connotation when describing a pronoun. Since the Hebrew language does not have a neuter gender such as “it” to describe the Holy Spirit, the only options were “he” or “she.” Certainly, the Holy Spirit could not be referred to as “she” since it is the dynamic force, power, energy and personality emanating from the very mouth and breath of Almighty Yahweh. Therefore, it demanded the masculine pronoun “he.”
Ruach (Spirit) is masculine in gender; however, Hebrew grammar does not look upon Ruach as a person, but as a force or power. Additionally, the pronoun Comforter is of masculine gender, manifesting why the translators elected the terms he, him or himself.
Referring to the Holy Spirit as “he” in the Hebrew and Greek did not present the problem it does in the English language. Those who spoke Hebrew and Greek knew very well the Ruach and Pneuma meant breath, wind, to blow, exhale, respire—Spirit. No confusion existed as to what the Holy Spirit was. It may be an interesting side note to add that, in many languages, breath and spirit are the same word.
The problem arises in the English language when we misunderstand the words Ruach and Pneuma. We only see the words he, him, himself or whom in reference to the Holy Spirit and this most definitely causes us to perceive an entity or person.
If the translators could have foreseen the confusion or had insight to the true doctrine of the Holy Spirit, they could have performed a great service if they had translated those words to it, itself or which. This would have maintained the integrity and context of the Scripture when crossing over from Hebrew and Greek into the English. Instead, whenever the translators came across the terms he, him, himself and whom, they rendered them the same in English.
It would aid the Bible student tremendously to gender these terms as it, itself or which in a masculine gender, which is possible in the English language. This would bring clarity of thought and sound doctrine even to those who have not studied the Hebrew and Greek languages.
Another cause of the confusion has been the use of the term “ghost” instead of Spirit. This is found often within the fundamentalists. The English term “ghost” brings to mind an apparition which lends to the concept of an entity. A ghost may be invisible, but is contrary to the Hebrew and Greek terms Ruach and Pneuma, and foreign to the breath of Yahweh.
In ancient idol worship, the ghost was the child who was the third member of the trinity. The ghost was the person who was the incarnation of the deceased, such as Tammuz to Nimrod.
The doctrine of the Trinity, taught throughout Christiandom, is derived from pagan mythology. For this reason alone the true worshipper will not have any part in such a doctrine. In ancient religions of the Assyrian, Babylonian, Roman and Egyptian cultures, there are trinities which are formed from a father, mother and child relationship.
The letters “IHS” which appear on many Catholic and Christian altars, are derived from Egyptian origin, meaning Isus, Horus and Seb. When concerned worshippers of Christianity confronted the clergy with this fact, the clergy quickly created the terms Iesous, Hominum, Salvator meaning “Jesus (Zeus) the Savior of men.”
However, the pagan origin of “IHS” is well documented and still well known. We should never allow the Trinitarian teachings of the Assyrian, Babylonian, Roman or Egyptian cultures into our faith, and we should never, for any reason whatsoever, pattern our true worship after any of these pagan cultures.
In idolatrous Baal worship, there are various portrayals of Baal that reveal the trinity was a very distinct part of pagan worship. The trinity concept is depicted in statues and art work of Baal, manifesting him with three horns, three stars and three arms, signifying his Trinitarian nature. Satan would like nothing more than for us to depict Yahweh in the same way. Father Yahweh is not a triune god with three godheads. Yahweh is One and Yahshua is One! Deuteronomy 6:4, Hear O Israel, Yahweh is Elohim, Yahweh is One. 1 Corinthians 8:6, Yet to us there is one Elohim, the Father, of whom are all things, and we to Him, and One Master, Yahshua the Messiah, through Whom are all things and we through Him. Yahweh is One and Yahshua is One. They are a duality, not a oneness or trinity. They possess the dynamic energy, power and invisible force that proceeds from Their mouth.
In light of these facts, we must renounce the doctrines of the “trinity” and “oneness” because they are unscriptural and we should pattern our worship solely upon the Scriptures.
In Genesis 1:3, 6, 9, 11, 14, 20 and 26, our Elohim spoke creation into existence. That’s correct. Then Elohim said, “Let there be …” The Ruach (Spirit) is the very force, power, invisible energy which came from the mouth of Elohim, the very Spirit (breath) that moved upon the face of the waters. Elohim spoke and it was done. The very breath/spirit of Elohim created all things.
Psalm 104:29-30, You hide Your face, they are troubled, You take away their breath, they die, and return to dust. You send forth Your Spirit, they are created, and You renew the face of the ground.
Every scriptural truth Yahweh has brought forth, Satan has created a counterfeit to keep us disconnected and disobedient to Yahweh. Here are some examples:
|Yahweh’s Scriptural Truths||Satan’s Counterfeits|
|7th Day Sabbath:||Saturday||1st Day Sabbath: Sunday|
|Savior’s Death:||Wednesday||Good Friday|
|Law||Lawgiver/Statutes forever||Lawlessness/No law now|
|New Year:||March or April||January 1st|
|Savior’s Birth:||In the Fall||Christmas/December25th|
This is only a partial list. Satan has successfully deceived the masses, just as your Scriptures have foretold. The religious masses follow after the counterfeits of Satan without realizing the deception. Many try to justify living under these counterfeits. The way of man may seem right in his own eyes, but it leads to death. We must stop observing the traditions of men in good spirit and good intentions and start obeying the Word of Yahweh.
Now, pay particular attention to this next Scripture and identify how Satan brings forth his counterfeit spirit. Revelation 16:13-14, And I saw three unclean spirits like frogs coming out of the mouth of the dragon, out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet. For they are spirits of demons, performing signs, which go out to the kings of the earth and of the whole world to gather them to the battle of the great day of Yahweh.
Satan is emulating Yahweh. We see the counterfeit spirits of Satan coming out of Satan’s mouth just as the Spirit/Breath of Yahweh comes from His mouth. When Yahshua returns to the earth to establish Yahweh’s Kingdom, He won’t use martial arts or big bombs. We read in Revelation 19:15, Now out of His mouth goes a sharp two-edged sword, that with it He should strike the nations.
Out of Yahshua’s mouth proceeds the dynamic force, power, energy and personality of Yahweh. This dynamic energy can be manifested as a “pillar of fire” or a “burning bush.” It can completely light up the entire world during the millennium and thereafter. It can create or destroy. In Acts 2:2-4, when they were all filled with the Holy Spirit at Pentecost, it was described as the rushing of a mighty wind. It can be poured, renewed, quenched or stirred up, all of which occur when Yahweh or Yahshua speak these manifestations from Their breath.
Now read how Yahshua will destroy Satan. 2 Thessalonians 2:8, And then the lawless one will be revealed whom Yahshua will consume with the breath of His mouth and destroy with the brightness of His coming.
The Holy Spirit of Yahweh is the breath, wind, exhalation, respiration, breeze or air current from the mouths of Yahweh and Yahshua. Yahweh can impart whatever quality or quantity of His dynamic force, power, energy (Set-Apart Spirit) upon you He so desires. Everyone receives the same quantity to maintain the breath of life. You can be blessed with more of the Holy Spirit to enhance your strength, song, artistry, tongues, prophecy, etc. These spiritual gifts are given to those who obey Yahweh. When we keep the Sabbaths, New Moons, set Feast days, love one another, and remain clean by not touching the unclean things, then our prayers can be answered.
Acts 5:32, And we are witnesses to these things, and so is the Holy Spirit, which Yahweh has given to them that obey Him.
1 John 3:22, And whatever we ask we receive from Him, because we keep His commandments and do the things that are pleasing in His sight.
Then at the resurrection, we can receive the fullness of the Spirit. Those that are alive will be changed within the twinkling of an eye (1 Corinthians 15:52). This is the born-again experience from the Power on High. We receive our spiritual bodies when we are born again. This is immortality, our salvation and prize. No longer will the blood be the life of us and run through our veins. It will be replaced by the Spirit.
Yahshua tells us that the very words that come out of His mouth are spirit. John 6:63, It is the Spirit that gives life, the flesh profits nothing; the words that I have spoken to you are spirit and are life.
It is important to read and study your Scriptures, even if you may not remember or understand them all at this time, because the time will come when all the Scriptures you have studied will be brought to your remembrance. The Comforter, which is coming, will teach you all things. However, that information needs to be put into the mind first before it can be brought into remembrance. John 14:26, But the Comforter, the Holy Spirit, which the Father will send in My name, it shall teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said.
Most every true worshipper understands that being obedient to the Word of Yahweh will provide for a happier world, better marriage, better family life, better health, cleaner environment, better relations with your neighbors, as well as an overall feeling of wholeness.
However, there is even a greater reason for our obedience to the Word of Yahweh, an even greater reason why we must be tried, tested and proven worthy, and that reason is the spiritual bodies we receive.
Once you have been given your spiritual body, you will possess power beyond your wildest dreams. You will have the ability to become invisible or command nature. You can impart thoughts upon others and read thoughts. You will be given great authority.
Satan is also a spirit being and has great power. Look at all the chaos he has caused. Can you imagine a million satans? Can you believe Yahweh would be so irresponsible to give that kind of power to millions of people who are untried, untested and unproven?
If you can prove you are able to overcome the carnal flesh, the worldly pressures and influence of Satan while you are in the carnal flesh, then you are worthy to receive immortality and a spiritual body in the millennium where you will not have such temptations.
I pray each and every one of you has the courage to become the person you truly want to be, and that you are found worthy of the prize!
